Parents as Partners

Parents as Partners

Parent Helper Rota

Research shows children learn better when their parents are involved.

We operate a rota system to try and involve all parents in helping the group on a regular basis. This ensures a higher than necessary ratio of adults to children and we find parents enjoy talking about it afterwards with their child. Indeed, at our last inspection Ofsted assessed our partnership with the parents and extended families of the children coming to our setting as ‘Outstanding’.

For working parents however, we know it is not always possible to attend sessions. If this applies to you and you are still keen to get involved in some way, we can look for other ways for you to contribute.

When your child starts with us, you will receive a weekly email. This will include details about the theme or focus for the forthcoming week, and suggest ways you can make this relevant for your child and help them engage with and contribute to it.

In addition regular newsletters are distributed and parents are encouraged to read the notice board inside the setting for the latest information and news about activities.

Management Committee - Meet the Committee

Being a community led pre-school and charitable organisation we rely on the goodwill of volunteers and a hard-working and supportive committee. Each September at the AGM a committee is elected to fulfil the various roles that are essential for the smooth running of both settings. As well as fulfilling these roles each member attends regular meetings throughout the year to discuss, review and implement changes, uphold policies and plan.

“I joined the committee because I wanted to get to know more about where my child was going to preschool and use my skills to help support it, so the preschool can continue to offer a fantastic environment for children for many years to come.”

I love being involved with the organisation and helping the Committee make decisions to enable the already successful Playgroup to develop and grow.”

“My daughter attended Barford Playgroup, and I have a younger son, so I welcomed the opportunity to join the committee and influence how the Preschool is managed. It has been a great way of meeting other local parents and get to know some of the staff better.”
