Our Playgroup

With regret Barford Playgroup is closed as of 18th December 2018. The website will be updated in due course.

Background - Barford Playgroup is a non-profit making charity organisation, and has been running since 1968. We are a small playgroup with a warm, friendly atmosphere and are extremely proud of the traditional values, family feel and strong sense of community at the heart of everything we do.

Working closely with the families bringing children to our setting and the community at large is extremely important to us and key to our success. We link closely with Barford and Easton primary schools, so our pre-school children make a smooth transition into their primary school reception class. This involves playgroup visits to school, and also teachers coming into playgroup to meet the children.

Another key characteristic of our setting is the collaboration and teamwork between the staff and committee members responsible for its provision. Our staff team of childcare professionals run the playgroup on a day to day basis and are supported and governed by our management committee which consists mainly of parents and carers.

We are registered with Ofsted to provide care for a maximum of 26 children at any one time, however we cap our regular sessions at 20 children and our pre-school session at 16 children. We can support children with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and those who have English as an additional language.

Aims -We aim to enhance the development and education of pre-school children (aged from 2 years) in a parent involving, community based group. Our staff and helpers aim to provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment, and to work with parents to encourage their child’s development and form a bridge between the child’s home and the wider world.

Children have access to the large main hall and toilet facilities, whilst a modern kitchen provides all our catering and domestic needs. We offer outdoor play at every session (in all weathers) in a secure garden space accessed directly from the main hall.

At every session we offer craft, role play, and construction activities, plus a cosy quiet corner for when your little one wants a story or a rest.
